The Hidden Cost of Doing the Right Thing
For nearly 200 years, Neir’s Tavern has stood as a place for community, connection, and support. Today, that mission continues—but it comes at a severe cost as we multiply our efforts to support the community.
Because we do not have a dedicated event space, when we open our doors to host more community events, food drives, and local artists, we are frequently forced to turn away families and guests who walk in to simply dine with us.
This creates an impossible balance between doing what is right for the community and maintaining the business that allows us to exist.
The Bold Move Next Door
To solve this, we have taken a massive leap. We are in the process of securing the commercial space right next door to create the dedicated Neir’s Community Hall.
This new space will allow us to continue supporting local organizations, hosting events, and bringing people together—without ever sacrificing our day-to-day Tavern operations.
The One Missing Piece (And The Ticking Clock)
However, while we have secured the opportunity to take over the room, we do not yet have the $100,000+ in capital needed to execute this vision.
To do this right, the project is broken into three strict phases:
Phase 1 ($30,000+): Securing the commercial lease and completing the core groundwork.
Phase 2 ($45,000+): City permitting, architectural approvals, and the physical build-out.
Phase 3: The finishing historic touches, staffing, and the red-carpet opening for everyone who contributed.
More importantly, we are on a strict deadline. If we do not raise the capital to execute this lease quickly, we may lose the room to a 99-cent store or a business that completely erases the history of the space.
That is why we are coming to you today.
You can donate $200 to become a Neir’s Road to 200 Supporter, Donate $2,000 to become a Hall of Famer, or simply contribute what you can to be included in this historic moment to save a piece of NYC history.
How You Can Secure This Legacy With Us
With your contribution today, you reclaim this former historic Mae West Ballroom and transform it into the Neir’s Community Hall. We can create a permanent home where people can gather, create, and connect for generations to come.
