The History
Historic Neir’s Tavern, nestled in the heart of Woodhaven, NY (Queens), is more than just a bar—it's a living piece of history. Established in 1829, Neir’s is the oldest, continuously operating bars in New York City, and one of the oldest in the United States. We’re now on our Road to 200…and Beyond.
Known for its rich history and unique charm, Neir’s has witnessed the ebb and flow of time, from the early days of horse-drawn carriages to becoming a cherished part of local culture. Infamously referred to as the “most famous bar you’ve never heard of,” it served as the backdrop for iconic films such as “Goodfellas” and “Tower Heist.” Entertainer Mae West also lived nearby and danced here as a child Over the years, Neir’s has been a haven for locals and visitors alike, offering a slice of NYC's storied past in every pint.

We strive to give back to those around us with our community partnerships and ensure that Neir’s remains a beacon of hospitality for future generations.
