Neir's Tavern Community Hall

Can Community Conquer All?

We Have 30 Days to Fund Neir's Community Hall and Build a Legacy.

For nearly 200 years, Neir's Tavern has stood as a cornerstone of New York City history. When we faced a devastating rent hike that nearly closed our doors forever, an incredible thing happened: the community showed up in unprecedented numbers and saved Neir's.

Since that victory, our mission has been to give back. But today, we are at a critical new crossroads.

We believe a local business should never have to choose between keeping the lights on and supporting its neighbors. Yet, every week, we open our doors to local nonprofits, organizers, and artists who need a place to gather.

Because we have to host them right in the middle of our dining room, we are forced to turn away our regular customers during the lunch and dinner rush. It is completely unsustainable. We need a dedicated space for the community, but we cannot do it alone.

We have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to solve this.

We have a strict 30-day window to secure the historic Mae West ballroom space right next door and transform it into the Neir's Tavern Community Hall.

This dedicated hall will allow us to instantly expand our food drives, toy collections, and support for local schools. More importantly, it provides local nonprofits and families with a private space for fundraisers and events, completely separate from our daily restaurant operations. But if we miss this 30-day window, a corporate lease takes over, and this opportunity is gone forever.

This is more than just a renovation; it is about preserving a verified legacy.

  • Established in 1829, Neir's is one of the oldest restaurants in NYC.
  • Our corner was officially renamed “Neir's Tavern Way” in 2021.
  • We are the historic filming location for Goodfellas and are featured on the Queens edition of Monopoly.

We survived 2020 because this community fought for us. Now, we are asking you to build the next 200 years with us.

Most people never get a building or a street named after them. But at Neir's Community Hall, you can have your name permanently engraved into a space built for the people.
