Back in late 40's & early 50's, as many people remember, they had great christmas parties for children upstairs above the bowling alley. My father belonged to the Union course men's club, and they would host the party every year. I also remember there was a sign behind the bar "ladies be seated". You did not see a woman at the bar at the time - quite unbelivable in 2010.

Had a great night with my friend last night. Had some ribs, beer and fine music and vocals. Terrific "find" for somebody whose lived in Queens all my 51 years. God Bless this bar, the owners, the musicians, the bartenders and not to forget, the patrons.... Live long and prosper Neirs!

Just found out about the remodel from and old neighbor. It was my great, great uncle Lou who owned the bar. I remember stories my grandfather told me about having to clean out the spitoons when he was a kid! and my dad Louis Neir also,(named after Uncle Lou) being a Pin setter for the bowling alley. He still lives in Ozone Park. I wish the new owners much luck! I'm sure Mae Wests spirit, as well as Louis and Julie Neirs, is still there!
